“Planning any type of event is no small feat with lots of key factors to consider, and for any conference or meeting that you are arranging, success is key. Organising the perfect event can be hard, so here are my top tips to help you succeed!”
Choose the right location
Location can be the making or breaking of your event. If you’re used to working in the city, escaping to the countryside will be a nice change for your delegates. Whereas, if you’re used to working in the countryside, the city lights might suit you better. Being based in the New Forest, our Hotel in Hampshire tends to see a lot of city workers visiting to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the fresh country air!
Consider transport links
You don’t want to choose a venue where your delegates will find it difficult to travel to. Consider how they usually travel to work and try to find a location where they can use the same type of transport. Being located in Brockenhurst, we are located just a 5-10 minute walk away from Brockenhurst Train Station which benefits from a direct line from London Waterloo, taking only 1 hour 35 minutes. We are also easily accessible from the M27 if travelling by car.
Think about more than just the meeting
Delegates will appreciate being in a venue where they can enjoy their down time once the meetings are over. Being located in an area where delegates can go for a walk/run/bike ride after the meetings, or with a luxury spa at our hotel in the New Forest will make all the difference. Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa is set in the New Forest National Park and has an award winning spa on site, meaning delegates can benefit from the balance between business and pleasure.
Good catering is key
Your delegates will really appreciate good food. They won’t want to see the standard sandwich, sausage rolls and salad buffet for lunch. Choose a venue with a great reputation for good food, leaving your delegates feeling refreshed, revitalised and rewarded after their meals. Having three restaurants on site at Careys Manor, you can enjoy French, Thai or Modern-British food. Our flagship restaurant Cambium has recently been awarded 3 AA rosettes for the superior quality of the food using local and organic ingredient for an authentic taste of the forest.
Add some fun (where your schedule/budget allows!)
Whether it’s a bike ride through the forest, a cocktail making masterclass before dinner or fun team building activities such as Duck Herding or ‘It’s a Knockout’. Even just an hour of fun will leave your delegates feeling rewarded and motivated when returning to the office.
Bring your team to the New Forest for your next Conference or Team Building event and swap the city for fresh forest air and fresh thinking.
