It was in the kitchen at home! After 18 years together! Once I got over the shock and we both came back down to earth, we decided to get married straight away! The next day we phoned the Registrar who told us we needed a venue first. We shoot many weddings at different venues so we could have chosen anywhere really but we both looked at each other and said ‘Careys Manor’! It has always been our favourite wedding venue in the New Forest! 18 days later with the help of the wonderful team at Careys Manor we were married!
I needed something simple as it was only to be a very quiet intimate wedding…..shopped online at Next and dress arrived the next day! Burgundy shoes and handbag from Phase Eight.
No bridesmaids, just two guests who were our witnesses!
The Groom’s Outfit
Navy blue suit from M&S and a burgundy tie coordinating with my dress
The ceremony was absolutely lovely! I had booked a saxophonist to surprise my groom and she played beautifully for our entrance, whilst the register was being signed and after the ceremony – ‘Just the Two of Us’, ‘You’ve Got a Friend’ and ‘Make you Feel My Love’ were some of the pieces chosen. It was emotional but no nerves, we just felt absolutely comfortable with our decision.
We just had a few flowers on the Registrar’s table and two of the lovely Careys Manor lanterns! It was a 4pm wedding and quite dark so the candlelight was lovely! We ate canapes and drank champagne with our two Registrars, two witnesses, the saxophonist, James and Françoise. After the canapes we went outside for a few photos where it looked stunning with the fabulous colours! In the evening we ate in the Manor Restaurant with our two guests, the food was incredible! We stayed overnight in the bridal suite – pure heaven!
How do you feel the day went?
Absolutely perfect from start to finish, the venue, the staff and food was beyond our expectations!
Which particular memories stand out for you?
To be perfectly honest the whole day as we were on a high from beginning to end and that wasn’t just the champagne!
