Shane and I have been together since we were teenagers. After 7 years together whilst on a pre-Christmas break away to New York, Shane proposed.
My wedding dress was bought from Wedded Bliss in Dibden Purlieu. The dress was a stunning lace and diamante A line dress. I was shocked that ‘the one’ dress was lace as I always had in mind a satin dress. The staff at Wedded Bliss were fantastic as they knew what style would complement my shape. If it had not been for them I would never have tried on that dress. Thank you!
My wedding was unique as I not only had three bridesmaids, I also had a bridesman. My bridesmaids wore a stunning Cadbury purple A line dress with sequin detail along the top. My bridesmaids were my sister Tara and my best friends Kelly and Judy. Tara and Judy flew over from their homes in Australia especially to share the special day with us. My Bridesman, Ant, who I’ve known and been close friends to since school wore a lovely slim fit grey suit with matching Cadbury purple waistcoat and tie from Moss Bros to match the bridesmaids.
The Groom’s Outfit
Shane wore a stunning blue suit from Next with a matching waistcoat and ivory tie hired from Moss Bros.
The ceremony was perfect in the lounge. Like us it was casual and fun as we had a laugh throughout the vows especially when Shane couldn’t get his words right! We only had 60 guests which consisted of only close friends and family. My entrance music was Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You’ which set my dad off even before we started walking down the aisle. Now some of the wedding pictures looks like I’m dragging my dad down the aisle as I’m all smiles and he’s in bits! When signing the register and posing for photos for our guests we had Stevie Wonder ‘Signed, Sealed Delivered’ playing in the background, followed by Big Mountain ‘Baby I Love Your Way’ and Beyonce ‘Love on Top’. As husband and wife our exit music was the soundtrack from Grease ‘We Go Together’.
Our reception was held in the Cedar Suite. Our tables were decorated with lilac crystals and retro sweet wedding favours. We also had a tall flower centre piece on each table designed by Little-Lilies. Before the speeches we sat down to eat a delicious buffet BBQ which guests said they really enjoyed especially the peppered mackerel. The speeches from the father of the bride, the groom and best man were brilliant. They had us all laughing one minute and crying the next. For the evening reception we had Viva Las Vegas who did a casino entertainment for the guests as well as the hotel’s resident DJ Toby. We danced and drank all night with our guests and couldn’t believe it when it was all over as the day had flown by so quickly. But we certainly enjoyed every minute of it.
How do you feel the day went?
The day was perfect. Since I was a young girl I always dreamt of having my wedding at Careys Manor. Careys certainly lived up to my expectations. Our wedding day was the best day of our lives. All of our guests have expressed to us what a great day they had and we were happy to share our special day with them at Careys Manor.
Which particular memories stand out for you?
As Shane and I got engaged in New York, Toby the DJ played his final song of the night which was Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York. This had everyone up on the dancefloor with us, laughing, singing and dancing. It was fantastic.
