We’re delighted to introduce to you Lorella Negro our new Hotel Manager. Lorella brings over 17 years’ experience to her new role at Careys Manor and has settled in very quickly given that she started in the heart of the Christmas madness back in December!
Lorella has grown up in the industry with her parents both working in Hospitality. This meant as a young girl she was always experiencing new hotels and restaurants. It was at the age of 14 she began shaping her future as she took up a role as Commis Chef at the family pub.
“I loved the buzz of hospitality and how every day was different therefore I did my work experience at The Holiday Inn in Bristol where my dad worked. I loved it so much I even volunteered to work overtime unpaid!”
At the age of 19 Lorella became Hotel Trainee Manager with Macdonald Hotels at The Bath Spa Hotel before being promoted a year later to Assistant Restaurant Manager at The Francis Hotel. She worked in MacDonald Hotels for 12 years and from that brings structure, discipline and standards of procedure to the role.
“I have many hopes and plans for Careys however I won’t let the family culture of the hotel change, only to grow as we recruit more valuable and skilled people to achieve our goals.”
In terms of industry idols Lorella much admires and respects her old General Manager, Michael Grange.
“He has taken me on a journey from Trainee Manager at 19 right through to my first Operation Manager position at 30. He has shown a lot of time, investment, guidance and care for me and helped me with my career development and goals massively. He has always looked after me and has always been a great help when I need advice on something, even leaving The Randolph which was my last position as Conference & Banqueting Manager with him.”
“I am very passionate about food and drink. My dad is Italian therefore good food and wine was always part of my childhood. My partner is also a Head Chef so I’m lucky enough to have experienced some of the best Michelin starred restaurants and food in the country.”
During Lorella’s spare time she loves to read and sees it as a form of escapism from the hectic 24 hour environment of hotels. As a ballerina during her childhood she also loves anything to do with dancing; musicals, theatre, ballets and TV shows like Strictly Come Dancing, Riverdance and Dancing on Ice.
