Claire & Simon’s September 2013 Wedding at Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa
“Simon and I loved our ceremony! We drank, we danced, we chatted. We had a blast. The food was amazing. Everyone had so much fun. It was also really relaxed and loads of our guests have said it was the friendliest wedding they’ve been too”. Claire & Simon
Both Simon and I love Bath. So last November he took me and our little baby girl Rose for a weekend away. To my delight, we stayed at the Royal Bath Crescent Hotel and our room was amazing. We had a great time shopping and having spa treatments, I had no idea that a proposal was on the cards.
On the Saturday after an amazing spa treatment Simon greeted me in the hotel gardens. He led me up to our room and to my surprise there was a huge bouquet of roses (but of course!) and a bottle of Champagne in the room. I turned round and Si said “This isn’t quite how I’d planned this but our little one got in the way of my plans, however, will you marry me?” My response was repeating “Oh my goodness!” Over and over again. He then asked, “Is that a yes?” “Of course!” I exclaimed. I loved the ring he had chosen for me that was set in a clasp with Roses.
Apparently he had planned on proposing in the gardens in front of the Crescent but little Rose, as babies do, had not been impressed by this plan so had cried.
The Wedding Dress
My dress was amazing! I had seen it in a shop window over the Christmas period and said to my mum, “That’s my dress.” Sure enough when I tried it on, it was! It was lace, with lots of layers, a train and a lovely sweet heart neck line that was really flattering. I felt like a Princess all day.
The Groom’s Outfit
Simon wore a place grey three piece suit, his tie and matching hankie had a pattern of Roses on it. Can you spot a theme yet?
My bridesmaid was our daughter Rose. She looked like a lovely marshmallow in pale pink, and again the dress had Roses on it.
My little sister (not so little, as she’s 27, but she’ll always be my little sister), wore pale pink dress, with lacy sleeves and looked stunning with her hair piled up and roses in her hair.
The ceremony is all a bit of a blur to be honest! I just remember seeing Simon and getting to him and feeling so incredibly lucky looking from him to our Rose, my family!
My younger brother sung me down the aisle, to ‘The Rose’ by Bette Midler, it was so lovely. He also sang during the signing of the register and us back up the aisle.
We only had 60 guests at our ceremony and we both loved how intimate it felt.

I surprised Simon by doing a dance routine w ith ‘my girls’. Still can’t believe I carried it off in my dress!
Loved, loved, loved it and want to do it all over again!
Roses. Enough said, lol.
Pink! Pale pink and fushia pink. Simon w as kind enough to let me have so much pink!
How do you feel the day went?
The day went amazingly well. So many people told me to expect things to go wrong. Nothing did.
We simply loved it.
What particular memories stand out for you?
Starting to drink jäger bombs at 4.30 in the afternoon! My poor sister in law drank so many that she couldn’t sleep!
I was so excited to see our Rose in the morning, (she slept in with my mum and dad) that when I went to their room I looked down into reception to see poor Illy on the sofa! She said she felt fine, just couldn’t sleep! Too much caffeine. Lol.
