Wedding Day – 8th November 2014
We went for a meal at our local Thai restaurant with all our friends which John had organised so straight away I was a little confused as John doesn’t tend to do the organising. As the evening wore on and it got later and later the idea went out of my head. Around 11.00pm, John stood up in front of the whole restaurant and asked if he could have their attention. He then told the whole restaurant for a whole 10 minutes exactly how he felt about me ending with a proposal!
Why did you choose Careys Manor Hotel for your wedding?
We know the hotel from old, so really there was no question! We organised our wedding for 80 in just under 8 weeks and we really needed a team we felt confident in to do this. Once we had met with Francoise the Events Manager, it was obvious we were in the right hands.
It was a floor length, vintage, cream dress, with scalloped neck and hem – very simple!
The Groom’s outfit
Charcoal top hat and tails with cream cravat and waste coat and cane. Even our little 4 year old boy was in top hat and tails – he looked amazing.
I didn’t have any bridesmaids, I have quite a large circle of friends and didn’t want to choose.
We had our ceremony in the lounge. The lounge is our favourite part of the hotel – warm and cosy and very in keeping with the location of the hotel. My son held my hand down the aisle and my Dad was on the other side! I think we had about 50 for the day and every one was seated comfortably with a good view.
The reception was super. The food was lovely, sometimes I think the quality of the food can suffer when catering for such large numbers but this was not the case at all. There was even a power cut all through Brockenhurst for a short time and the staff handled it wonderfully, in fact it even added to the occasion with reminiscing! My brother’s band rocked the evening party and we had the best night of our lives. The evening food (Thai curry) was tasty and plentiful my guests still say now how great it was.
I chose ivory and black flowers in long stemmed vases with lots of greenery. I used the hotels florist which came as part of the package. I was expecting something not so fancy to be honest as it was a built in cost but the style and quality was a welcome surprise.
Black and ivory small hears were scattered on the tables with miniature black boards and easels showing the table number.
How do you feel the day went?
Loved loved loved it, just wish it could have gone on until the next morning
Any particular memories from your Wedding Story that stand out that you would like to share?
