Samantha and Julen share the story of their wedding day that took place on Thursday 10th September 2015.
Julen whisked me away for a surprise trip to Paris, I had no idea what his intentions were until the last day when we visited the Pont de l’Archeveche (Love lock bridge). He pulled out the padlock with our names on, told me to unlock with the key and to my surprise it had my beautiful engagement ring on! He got down on one knee and it was the most magical moment of my life.
Why did you choose Careys Manor Hotel for your wedding?
We originally wanted to get married on a beach in the Caribbean however we decided to visit Careys Manor wedding fair one Sunday and from the moment we started walking up the gravel driveway towards the hotel, Myself and Julen looked at each other and said lets get married here its beautiful! Something just felt right about it.
Tell us about the Bride’s outfit
I wore a stunning Sincerity dress, which had a lace and tulle sheer neckline and a chiffon cummerbund with a chapel length train. I added a gorgeous diamante belt stitched on around the waist to give it more of a vintage feel. The veil i wore was by Joyce Jackson and it matched perfectly with the dress!
Tell us about the Groom’s outfit
Julen wore a Ted Baker suit in Navy with brown ted baker shoes, a light pink tie to match the bridesmaids and he had a silver pocket watch engraved with a special message on it. He looked very handsome.
Tell us who your Bridesmaids were and what they wore
I had two bridesmaids, Cherelle who is my best friend and Sherileigh who is my step sister. They both wore matching strapless floor length dresses in light pink with some sparkly diamante shoes. They both looked absolutely stunning.
Tell us about the ceremony
The ceremony was perfect in every sense of the word. Firstly the sun was shining so we were able to have our dream ceremony outdoors in the quaint cedar garden, we had white chair covers with light pink sashes, the piano guys & Ed sheeran were playing in the background. We both chose to say the same vows that we chose together as they were perfect for us as a couple. We were both very emotional and it was a memory we will never forget.
Tell us about your reception
Our reception was held in the Cedar suite that had access to the ceder garden so was brilliant as our guests could go and enjoy the sunshine after our wedding breakfast. All our tables were decorated with lovely birdcage centerpieces on top of moss. These were very impressive as the hotels florist, owen incorporated the flowers into them which gave it more of a feminine twist. We also had a vintage sweet cart in one corner and a 1920′s style photo booth in the other. Our playlist was a mixture of old and new to suit our guests tastes.
What flowers did you choose?
We chose Owen at Little Lillies to do the flowers and we were very impressed. We chose a few types of roses including the ‘David Austin’ which are my favorite. They turned out beautiful!
Tell us about the décor you chose
We chose to have a slight vintage feel with a birds & butterflies theme. Rose petals were scattered, butterfly place cards and pink cake pops as our favors. I am very girly and so this was a perfect choice.
How do you feel the day went?
Overall the day was perfect in every which way. The staff were fantastic which gave me and Julen a chance to relax and enjoy every minute of it! What more can you want from your wedding day than the sun shining in a beautiful setting!
Any particular memories from your Wedding Story that stand out that you would like to share?
We danced to Christina Grimmie’s version of the famous Elvis song, Cant help falling in Love with you. This song had so many meanings to us so that is one memory that will stick with us forever. The whole day was out of this world and all our guests complemented on how lovely everything was.
