The Proposal

On the morning of our anniversary of when we first met I was led downstairs to a beautiful table laid with rose petals, a gorgeous bunch of flowers, champagne and what I thought was an anniversary card. We had been watching CSI Miami together a lot so in true CSI style Steve gave me a UV pen and I had to find the clues on the table which led me to the card. I opened it, and it said how much he loved me and he wanted to spend forever with me. Written in UV were the words ‘Will you marry me?’ and he quickly got down on one knee and proposed, whipping out a beautiful ring. Of course, I cried and said yes!

I love our quirky proposal and that was all first thing in the morning so we had the whole day to celebrate and not miss a minute of that first day of the rest of our lives.

When did you get married?

We married 25th March 2011

The Dress

I wore an ivory wedding dress that had sequins and sparkles on the front, it went in at the waist and had a long train that hooked up for the evening with a veil for the big moment. Equipped with ivory shoes and of course, something old, new, borrowed and blue!

The Groom’s Outfit

Steven wore a black tailored suit with a white waistcoat and a beautiful lemon tie that matched the theme.

The Bridesmaids

Our daughter of 20 months was our flower girl and she wore a cute white dress that had lemon petals inside and looked like a picture with her beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes. My little sister was our bridesmaid and as she was only 10, wore a similar dress to our daughter.

The Ceremony

We had our ceremony at the beautiful Careys Manor. I remember coming through the gardens in the wedding car with my dad and arriving at the grand doors all decorated with fresh flowers, the ceremony was in the lounge and it was beautiful. The light was beaming through the sky roof window and all our guests were beaming at me too. I saw quite a lot of tears streaming. I have no idea how I made it down the aisle dry eyed but somehow I did it. We boldly and proudly said our vows and were so excited that our day was here and we were man and wife.

The Reception

We spent the rest of the day at Careys Manor, starting with photography which we had taken all over the hotel including the spa. We had a fantastic wedding breakfast followed by speeches and then an evening disco, bar and warm Thai curry. The children played on the patio area and in the playroom we created for them whilst the adults enjoyed sitting back and watching whilst having a little tipple!

Tell us about the décor you chose

We chose yellow daisies as our theme for flowers and a lemon colour theme. We didn’t need a lot of decoration as Careys Manor is so pretty and sophisticated you really would spoil it if you added too much.

How do you feel the day went?

In one word – perfectly! I can honestly say it was one of the best days of my life – other than the birth of my children. It was truly amazing and everything I ever wanted. We felt so blessed.

Any particular memories from your wedding that stand out for you?

The spa! We stayed the night along with many of our guests and had access to SenSpa in the morning. It was the best spa by far and the smell of it will stay with me forever. Along with the bridal suit being amazing we had beautiful views of the garden. We also had a 4 tiered cake with lemon, chocolate truffle, baileys and strawberry and champagne fillings. There were also 100 cupcakes to match the cake for the evening. It was something very special to see!
