Jamie & Sarah Dacombe’s garden wedding
Jamie and Sarah were the first couple to have their wedding in the Cedar Garden at Careys Manor after our outdoor wedding licence was granted in July.
Find out how their day went…
Jamie and I were a couple back in 2000 but sadly broke up. We rekindled our relationship and got back together in 2011 where we then decided on a break away to Malta. We were casually having a coffee and cake in a beautiful cafe in M’dina the old romantic capital or the “silent city” as it is now known and Jamie, out of the blue said he would buy me a ring. We had been discussing holiday presents for each other and I said I was happy to get a ring for myself. “Not that kind of ring” James said. My face probably said it all and then Jamie said “will you marry me”? Of course I said yes straight away
Why did you choose Careys Manor?
We actually looked at about 40+ venues and decided Careys Manor was the best. Funny enough it was the last venue we viewed and we did not need to view anymore. We both knew it felt perfect for us and made us feel excited looking around. We knew that if the wedding was inside it would be perfect and that if their outdoor licence was granted and the weather was good it would be even more perfect to get married outside in the Cedar Garden.
What made you choose an outdoor wedding?
At the time we knew the licence was going through approval, so we knew there was a chance but it was only confirmed a few days before our big day and we knew it was weather permitting. It had rained overnight and it was not so great early morning but the sun came out and we had a great surprise when we arrived to learn our ceremony was going to take place outside and was all ready for us.
Tell us about the Brides outfit?
Sarah wore an amazing Ivory Dress by Sincerity .
I chose it as it fitted in with Careys Manor and I knew it was perfect for me when I tried it on. It had flowers appliqued all over it & leaves under the first layer. A stunning dress for a stunning venue. I felt the flower and leaf design fell in perfectly with the gorgeous surrounding gardens at Careys Manor. My bouquet was made up of fuchsias, roses and ivory freesias with fuchsia organza ribbon & diamante pins in each rose.
Tell us about the Groom’s Outfit?
Jamie wore a Grey suit from Youngs Suit Hire with a white shirt, ivory waistcoat, ivory cravat & ivory handkerchief to complement Sarah. He had a double ivory rose button hole with fuchsia wire.
Tell us about the Bridesmaids, Page Boys & Groomsmen’s outfits.
We had 4 Bridesmaids and 1 Page Boy. My Best Friend Michelle was our Maid of Honour and Jamie’s children as Bridesmaids and Page Boy; Jasmine (18), Chloe (12), Charlie (10) & Sophie (7). Michelle and Jasmine wore long one shouldered fuchsia dresses with diamante details and had Ivory flowers to complement. Chloe and Sophie wore Ivory dresses with Fuchsia flowers.
The Groomsmen, Best Man Dougie, Usher John and Page Boy Charlie all wore the same style Grey suit as Jamie but had silver waist costs, fuchsia cravats & handkerchiefs to complement the bridesmaids.
Wow, it cant get better than this. We had an amazing arrangement of black covered chairs with fuchsia silk bows. The wooden pavilion looked beautiful with white organza drapes down each side, finished off with fuchsia silk sashes to match the chairs. There was a long line of ivory flowers along the top and the back drop was a fringe drape with lots of white pearls. It truly was amazing and we had no idea it could look so good – being the first couple at Careys Manor to have our wedding ceremony outside, we had no real vision as to how it would look as there was nothing to compare it too but simply, WOW!
Francoise was waiting for my arrival and as I got out of the wedding car she greeted me warmly and said the ceremony is outside! I was very excited and Francoise was brilliant. The Fareham registrars were very warm and friendly and conducted the Ceremony perfectly.
The room was laid out beautifully and we were lucky enough to have the larger room for our reception. We had 6 round tables and a long top table. We had white tablecloths with the black chair covers & fuchsia sashes. We used Mala, Careys’ resident florist, for our flowers and she did a fantastic job. We opted for black candleabras with fushcia & ivory roses & gerberas. We had ivory candles which were all lit and looked great. Francoise kindly let the Best Man Dougie set up a Projector which he used to show incriminating pictures of us both to accompany his speech!
The service was 110%. We really could not of asked for more. The food was divine and our Master or Ceremonies, Becky did a brilliant job. Overall, the service was above and beyond expectations from all the staff involved in our Big Day. The tables and other items were all set up as we wished, which is very important as we had a vision as to how we wanted the room to look, including the cake set up in the corner, hanging hearts around the room, scatter crystals, menus, place cards, favours…….and, the receiving line went smoothly due to superb organisation and we loved seeing everyone for a brief chat! In fact as the day did flash by we are so pleased we included this in our day.
All the bouquets, button holes & corsages were sourced locally to us, simply because I wanted to know they were all present before I left for Careys Manor. Coming from Bournemouth, I felt it would be easier and it put my mind at rest that it was sorted out prior to leaving. All the other flowers were done by Mala, Careys Resident Florist. These included the ones for the ceremony, reception and gifts for the Mums. Mala did a fantastic job and we highly recommended her. The arrangements were perfect because she knew what we were having in the bouquets so they all tied in beautifully.
Further to above, the Hotel is beautiful & luxurious. All the rooms are warm, welcoming and beautiful including guest rooms. There is a historical feel around the reception and the stair well is amazingly old and beautiful. The whole hotel is very picturesque & the outside areas are all very well maintained & look stunning.
How you feel the day went
We feel that the day was perfect, the best day of our lives & we could not of asked or wished for more or anything to have been different. It was the perfect setting for our perfect day with the best staff on hand who are not only highly professional, they are also very friendly too and nothing is too much trouble. Francoise has the organisation of the weddings down to a tee and has a great team alongside her. If you want your day to go to plan and to be perfect in every way then look no further!
