Thanks to the world wide web there are many ways to get ‘the best deal’ on anything you desire, but are we missing something here? Is it more important to pay less and receive a little less, or is it better to book direct and potentially receive more?
Thousands of travellers ask themselves every day, “should I book a hotel break direct or through an agent?” It’s hard to ignore the likes of booking.com and lastminute.com when making your travel decisions, so is there any real benefit to cutting out the middle man and booking direct?
We spoke to our General Manager Mark Yates about the benefits of booking your break at Careys directly with the hotel and here’s what he had to say:
Longevity of the Staff
When you call our Reservations line you will speak to real people who know this hotel inside out. Many have worked in different departments during their career which means they have extensive knowledge and can answer any of your queries quickly and with the best possible answer.
If you need to make changes to your booking that can all be dealt with quickly and easily and we’re just a phone call away.
If you have a specific requirement or prefer a ground floor room for example, the team know the layout of the hotel very well and can ensure you get the room you would like for your stay.
If you request a quieter area of the hotel for example, they will know which rooms will meet this request. If you have a disability and require a larger bathroom or bedroom, they will know which bedrooms will be best suited to your requirements too. These are examples some third parties may not recognise.
The personal touch is so important in hospitality. Many guests come to stay at Careys for a celebration be that a Birthday or Anniversary and we love to celebrate with our guests. If you mention the reason for your stay we will ensure something special is arranged for you when you arrive such as chocolates in the bedroom, maybe even a Birthday balloon. Do you have specific dietary requirements? This can be catered to also to make sure you enjoy your meal at one of our three restaurants.
If you have specific health requirements the Reservations team can also provide helpful advice to ensure you are able to get the most out of your stay at Careys Manor. An example of this would be if you are undergoing treatment for cancer, the SenSpa therapists have all received special training in treating individuals with cancer and our Reservations team too have extensive knowledge on this therefore can ensure you are able to use the spa and enjoy your treatment without any worries. This may not be highlighted by a third party.
Knowledge of the Area
If you haven’t visited the New Forest before and wish to get the best out of your time here then you may have a few questions. Whilst our Concierge team are always on hand to help at the front desk, you may want to ask a few questions before booking too. Our Reservations department all live in and around the forest therefore have plenty of knowledge of the area spanning as far as Dorset so can advise you on the best beaches, the best shopping centres and the best towns to visit during your stay.
